August 19, 2020 at 7:26 amOk, I read on these forums quite a lot as most of the answers to questions are here but this is the first time I felt I had my own question to ask.
I write reviews for my own website and I recently wrote a review of Vegas 18 Pro, I haven’t used Premiere Pro for many years and I wanted to try and find out if anyone can point out things Premiere Pro can do that Vegas can’t because it’s hard to see the shortcomings when its the only thing you use.
I think Vegas 18 is excellent and found it hard to create some of the issues people have faced here, it seems to just work for me so does anyone disagree with what I have said about it and does anyone think it is worth me taking a look at Premiere Pro today?

August 19, 2020 at 8:04 amOf course I quite cleverly post the wrong link above and cannot now edit the post!, here is the actual link to the article if you would like to read it https://www.thepcmr.com/2020/08/18/vegas-18-pro-with-render-times-tested/
I will probably reply to your post without fully reading or understanding it.

August 19, 2020 at 6:23 pmPersonally, I like Vegas better than Premiere because it’s more intuitive to me – it works more the way I think than Premiere does.
Probably the number 1 reason for me to stick with Vegas – SCRIPTING. I don’t know of any other NLE that allows you to extend the abilities of the editor like Vegas can with scripting. I would be lost without the tools I use in Excalibur. I also wrote a script that we use at church so that “non-editors” can actually edit a church service without having to know the “nuts and bolts” of editing.
But other simple things – like overlapping two clips to create a crossfade (not having to worry about “heads” and “tails”) may not seem like much but greatly improves my workflow.

August 21, 2020 at 3:42 amI believe Premeire Pro can use a more recent version of closed captioning which is major for some professionals, has a lot more 3rd party support, is the “industry standard” which means if you are looking for work as a video editor and don’t use the adobe suite good luck finding anything that involves any collaboration.
Those are the reasons I can think of. In terms of actual program capabilities they are neck and neck, VEGAS Pro after the last few versions might actually have the greater ability, it’s all easier to work with, and way faster. It’s making strides to try an offer an alternative version of something like the adobe suite as well but it’s got a long way to go.
