You can certainly create that streak effect in AE. Particular is the best tool, but if you don’t have it you can still use CC Particle World. Here’s a tutorial that may help.

The camera shake can be created by using a simple wiggle effect like this.

  • There are frames in every After Effects composition, so that’s not your problem. Your issue is either (A.) there are black frames after you made a cut in the first section (B.) there are black frames at the beginning of your second section or (C.) the software you are using is inserting a space between the two clips.

I would check each clip individually, and if both look clean and you still have issues, I would take Dave’s suggestion and bring them into Premiere (Or even AE again) to combine. Then you can see how it plays back and adjust anything if needed.

  • You’ll probably want H.265, but you want to double-check that will work with where ever you are delivering it.

The most realistic way is to create the frames in between. Obviously that is significantly more work. It sounds like the Puppet Tool is what you are looking for.

Sounds normal. Even a little fast, given your computer specs. 😉

The layers are probably shy and locked.

I agree Particular is probably the best way to go. If you don’t have that plugin, you could also use the free Saber plugin.

Unfortunately I don’t think AE CS5.5 has the ability to work with 3D. You need a Creative Cloud version with Cinema 4D Lite or a plugin like Element 3D to actually work with a 3D object in After Effects.

How long is the clip? If Dave’s suggestion doesn’t help, sometimes I find it best to give in and manually track frame by frame. It might take an hour or so depending on the length, but it beats wasting another whole day trying to get the track just right.

You can also look at this plugin from NewBlueFX. Is seems pretty powerful and user-friendly from the looks of it, but it does have a price tag that may scare you off depending on your budget.
