  • Is a 3 hour Render Time normal ?

I am doing a 3D sequence using an element 3D layer which has 15 objects imported into it and 4 layers with Particular on each to simulate fog/cloudy weather.

Motion blur turned on in the element 3d layer
Glow turned on in element 3d
    One camera
    50 second sequence

The render is taking 3 hours. Is this normal or is it getting stuck somewhere ?

    My Specs :
    Running After Effects CS6 on
    i7 6700K, Z170A motherboard, DDR4 8GB ram, 960 GTX Strix Edition

PS : This is my first post on this forum, so forgive me if I have left out any necessary info

Ahh thank you for the reply! Sorry I derped out and forgot to mention the comp settings, 1920 x 1080p , 30fps, 1500 frames

I have turned off the physics factor on the particular layers though, so they are frozen; no new particles are being generated after the first second. I do have Gaussian blur on one of the particular layers to make the particle texture I am using seem more like a fog.

A render on Best Settings took me 3 hrs and 21 minutes

    Hi Shahruk,
if it is taking a long time to render out the output. you can render separate layer (separate particle, separate element, separate background) and then compile it together in to new file (if its taking a long time). hope thats works.

    Thanks,

Sounds normal. Even a little fast, given your computer specs. 😉
