Thanks Dave – for the link. I wrote them a request for this.

Right on Joey, your words are better said. The timeline gets quite messy and cluttered when working in close ranges and having to decipher visually from all of those ghosted bars.

Yea, there’s definitely something messed up with the Motion System. I cannot get two clips to work and I cannot mix keyframed animation with motion clip animation properly. What would seem logical becomes a mess when working with this and from the looks of the Motion System around here, no one seems to be using it….? Now I see why. It’s as though it was implemented in a half-developed and untested state, then forgotten.

I found it to be unreliable and undependable when working with more than one motion clip and it seems if you want to make a character do anything with a motion clip, you have to use ONLY motion clips, not use keyframe animation for some objects within a structure and others in a motion clip within the same structure. Man, this is frustrating!

Hmmm, that’s interesting. It helps to know that. Thanks Adam.

However, Absolute is not working the way I need it to anyway.

Brilliant! Just watched it – that’s EXACTLY what I needed and was tremendously easier than I thought! Thanks Adam! You always come through!

Now I just have to see if I can mix layers with motion clips!

Hey Adam, thanks for the input – I never had open GL active so I can rule that one out. The mesh is quite a bit less than the Meg mesh that comes with C4d and I have it subdivided 1 time with hypernurbs. Of course, when I am working with point mode or cutting the mesh, I turn of HN. Later in the day, as I was working with this same file, I was making cuts to another part of this model and had no problems at all.

Is Cinema known to conflict with any other application?

    Thanks!

Just got off the phone with Maxon Tech support and they are aware of Thinking Particles not behaving properly in a network rendering environment….and ya know what?….They have no intention of fixing that!

Hate to say this but I just lost some respect for Maxon. They want me to buy MoGraph to solve this issue…. a wonderful marketing scheme to get me to shell out more dough (rolling eyes).

I’ll take an extra few days and render it on one machine, thanks. This bites.

  • Great – thanks Adam!
