How to not view part of layer NOT used
Hey guys,
Anyone know if there’s a way to turn off and not view a part of a layer that’s not being used? For example, if I have a 10 second movie in AE and I crop it down to 5 seconds, how can I only view what’s being used and not the screened back color of what isn’t? This causes a lot of visual confusion for me when I have a ton of tracks and need to constantly adjust them.

I think he was saying that, having used the trim function, he is visually distracted by the “ghosted” bars remaining after the trim.
He wants a way to turn off the ghosting.As it is, I think you’re stuck with them.
I’ve personally never found them terribly distracting, but it might be worthwhile putting this in as a feature request to the AE team.

Right on Joey, your words are better said. The timeline gets quite messy and cluttered when working in close ranges and having to decipher visually from all of those ghosted bars.

Well, I have a lame work around for you 🙂
Enable time-remapping (cmd-opt-t on mac, ctrl-alt-t on pc) for the layers and the ghosted portion will disappear.
Just make sure you don’t mess with the time-remap keyframes unless you mean to 🙂
