Standard troubleshooting:</p>
<p>Turn off Background Rendering in Settings.</p>
<p>Delete all Render files by selecting the library, go to File menu, to Delete Generated Library Files, then delete ALL render files.</p>
<p>Quit FCP.</p>
<p>Hold Opt+Cmd while launching FCP and when prompted delete pref/setting&hellip;</p>

It&#8217;s personal preference.</p>
<p>You can get a free version of DaVince Resolve and try it out. I&#8217;d recommend that. </p>
<p>Nothing is universally better, nothing is lacking in features, just try them out first hand, go with what you like best personally. Period.</p>

Converting it to HDR does NOT add image information that doesn&#8217;t already exist. You get the same image quality with a larger file size. You must start by shooting HDR first. And there should not be any need to convert it nor to use optimized files. </p>

<p>Thus; what does &#8221; joining the Apple team&#8221; actually mean? The word &#8220;joining&#8221; does not have the same definition as the word &#8220;acquisition.&#8221; Thoughts?</p>

Still images should not be much larger than the frame size of the Project they&#8217;re being used in. The exception is if you plan to enlarge them to zoom in on them, then make them a bit larger. For a 1080 timeline, 4K should be fine for a still image. And at 75dpi.</p>

I highly doubt you&#8217;ve done a feature film in FCP with an ExFat drive. It&#8217;s super unstable. We&#8217;ll just say you&#8217;ve been unusually lucky so far. Apple&#8217;s own FCP forum is full of nightmares from folks using ExFat. Apple states themselves that it&#8217;s not compatible.</p>

<p>If your system drive has less than 15% of its total capacity as free space, that could cause issues.</p>

<p>You can go subscription OR stand-alone, you have a CHOICE.</p>
<p>Subscription gets you all the apps, PLUSE &#8220;premium content&#8221;.</p>
<p>Without subscription, you have limited access to &#8220;premium content&#8221; but have access to all &#8220;functions/features&#8221;.</p>
<p>Curious that the Photos app wasn&#8217;t included.</p>
<p>And based on the history of other &#8220;subscription&#8221;&hellip;</p>

<p>Most folks I know use Apple apps because they are NOT subscriptions or forced bundles. Subscriptions to software is the biggest legal scam in history, period. Apple is now the opposite of what Steve Jobs built. I&#8217;ll be moving to Resolve full-time now.</p>

MXF was popular at one time, not so much any more. And no, broadcast is not regional with codecs like you state. It&#8217;s pretty standardized across the board now.</p>

<p>Select the clip in the timeline.</p>
<p>Go to the Retime menu and select &#8220;Automatic Speed.&#8221;</p>
<p>What this does is uses all original frames so nothing is dropped, nothing is artificially added. It just uses all the original frames and conforms them to the Timeline&#8217;s fps setting. </p>
