Hi – searched the forums, latest thread is over 15 yrs old. ISO transitions. MotionArray quality is horrible, and others I’ve found are pretty expensive and cannot try to see their quality. Anyone with a brand that they really like? Interested in transitions mainly, but titles and other generators welcome. TYIA. Tim

    Hey Tim,

Yes, Motion Array was great, but turned into something useless.

Admittedly, I rarely use transitions apart from dissolves and the odd wipe.
Call me old-fashioned, except when I must do something more elaborate.

You might have already looked at these, but here goes:

MotionVFX pending takeover by Apple, may already be in the FCP Studio package:

FX Factory, reasonably priced, unless you need a lot of them:

Envato, I don’t know if these work for FCP + you may like with Motion Array, have to keep paying them for as long as you are using the transitions:

I am sure that there is more out there, but this was the few that I could think of.

Ripple Training, CoreMelt, FCPX Full Access, Industrial Revolution, Simple Video Editing, LenoFX, Effects, they all offer freebies. I’ve not found transitions very expensive for the most part. Folks like MotionVFX are expensive (overly so IMHO). What specific transitions are you in need of? Oh yeah, don’t buy stuff cause it’s cool or download it just because it’s free. You’ll end up rarely using it. Get what you need, when you need it, specifically.

I agree with most of the other suggestions. I didn’t see Premium VFX mentioned, which is one of my favorites along with Stupid Raisins, oMotion, BadAss transitions, and Final Cut Bro. Some Transitions are released as Titles, which can give you more flexibility to create custom transitions.

Another plugin I use on almost every project is the AddMotion Effect. It gives you many ways to move clips in and out of frame with various ways to ease, overshoot, bounce, etc. Vastly more control than what FCP offers.

I have used FX Factory for years. High-quality effects, tranistions , motion templates, and more.
