If you still can’t find the project try opening one from your Autosave Vault.
go to:
System Drive>Users>Documents>Final Cut Pro Documents>Autosave Vaultthis is where FCP automatically saves a record of your FCP Project files.
Find the folder with what you originally named your project, open it and if the project was opened long enough you should have an autosaved project file in there as long as you at sometime saved your original project. Open the file with the latest Date Modified do a Save As and save this new version where you can find it. You can change your auto save time settings in User Preferences in the General Tab to your preference.
hope this helps,

What if you place a few seconds of black at the top of your timeline and adjust TC accordingly in the sequence settings. It seems like the deck is having trouble catching that first frame of video. Does the in point of video recorded on the deck still match the in point of the sequence time code wise? Or did if fall off by a frame or 2?
On our sequences we have a prebuilt slate / countdown setup with 5 seconds of black at the top before it.not sure if this helps,

It seems like you have a lot of prefs on how you like to work like I do. When I updated to 6.0.5 I had plenty of strange things happening with FCP and I had to recreate my window settings. Things cleaned up a lot, but I still decided to delete my prefs and start anew.
Try this:
click Control U
that will get you on the Standard FCP window layout. Try doing what you couldn’t before like save a transition. If you can now then I would recreate new window settings in FCP 6.0.5.
If the problem persists you probably have to delete your prefs and create new ones in FCP 6.0.5good luck,

I believe it should be the key left of the number 1.
When I want to quickly delete markers I simply shift M to go to next marker or option M to go to previous marker then apple and the key left of the number 1 and its gone.
Control and Key next to the number 1 deletes all markers.
hope that helps,

I have had success sometimes by opening the most recent Autosave of a project in some previous versions of FCP 5.
If you go to:
System>Users>Documents>Final Cut Pro Documents>Autosave Vaultyou will see a bunch of folders of your Autosaved projects. Find the project you are having trouble with and open the most recent autosave of that project (which should be sometime Friday), and try to open it.
If it does open I usually do a Save As and rename the project so I don’t try to re-open the troubled project by mistake at a future date.
good luck,

We had this problem at our facility when we were on an earlier version of FCP 6. I believe we got around it by opening the project from our Autosave Vault located in Users>Documents>Final Cut Pro Documents>Autosave Vault. There you should be able to find your autosaved project folder and open the newest version of that project. Our work flow was, when that worked, to Save As the project so as not to be confused with the older one that would not open.
good luck,

When my machine is working fine and dandy, I usually copy the Window Layouts folder in Users>Library>Preferences and paste it in my documents. This way if I need to get rid of my prefs because the MacPro is running badly I still have an uncorrupted layout folder to drag and drop into the Window Layouts. I have 6 personal settings that I use and this has worked great the last time I have had to delete prefs.
I did have a problem when we upgraded to Leopard and it looked like FCP did not like my prefs from the last version. So I did have to make new Window Layout settings which is the one I have saved now in my documents folder.
good luck,

Did you try Capture Now?
Without handles FCP won’t be able to pre-roll the deck. Do you need to capture from the very first frame of each clip? Leaving the customary 3 – 5 seconds of handles depending on your deck preferences you should be able to batch capture your material leaving 3-5 seconds of pre-roll on that clip starting on the 3 hour mark as well. This will also allow you to re-capture your media in the event that you loose the captured footage.
also if the exact in is not mandatory and you will never need to re-capture this material accurately you could go to User Preferences and in the General tab uncheck Abort Capture on Dropped Frames. Not sure if FCP will let you jump from hour 2 to hour 3. You might have to capture each individually.

Do you want the clips to be ordered from first shot taken to last shot taken in the camera regardless of what each individual clip is named or Time Code Order? If so I would grab the Media Start column in the Browser and slide it to just right of the Name column. If you click on it, it should order the clips from the first time code to the last. Click on it again and it will reverse the order. I usually edit this way when looking for sequences shot in order regardless of what each individual clip is called.
hope this helps.

We edit HD also, view on an HD Panasonic LH2600, and the second monitor for the client is a Sony SD.
We don’t use Blackmajic, but on our Kona 3 the output to my second monitor has to be set to 525/29.97 or the client won’t be able to see a thing on his SD screen.
I have my Primary monitor (HD) set to 1080/29.97 for my own viewing
I have my Secondary monitor (SD) set to 525/29.97 for my clients viewinggood luck
