I am transferring approximately 700 .m2t files from a Sony MRC1 memory unit to Final Cut. The files read and transfer fine but the converted movie files are not in the correct order. In the “Log and Transfer” window they can be sorted in the correct order by clicking on the “Volume” tab, but in the final MAC folder, there obviously is no “Volume” tab to sort them correctly.

A solution would be greatly appreciated?

What’s the “correct” order? In FCP the default is order alphanumerically. How do you want it ordered? Click on the column header in the browser to order by that value.

    All the best,

Do you want the clips to be ordered from first shot taken to last shot taken in the camera regardless of what each individual clip is named or Time Code Order? If so I would grab the Media Start column in the Browser and slide it to just right of the Name column. If you click on it, it should order the clips from the first time code to the last. Click on it again and it will reverse the order. I usually edit this way when looking for sequences shot in order regardless of what each individual clip is called.

    hope this helps.
