  • External Video Playback Stuck on ‘Single Frame’

    Hi,
I’m playing back FCP 6 to an external monitor using my BlackMagic Deck Link Extreme HD. I changed a setting and now my secondary display seems to be stuck on single frame even though it is set to current frame. I know that I’ve had this issue before when I’ve been working with a second DVI monitor but I can’t remember what I did to correct the issue. I’ve already tried deleting my user preferences.

    Thanks
    Jon

Try setting it to ALL FRAMES instead of CURRENT FRAME in FCP. (Apple F12) If your screen goes black hit it again and it will toggle between viewing ALL FRAMES and nothing.
Then REFRESH VIDEO DEVICES (Option F12)

both commands are located near the bottom of FCP’s VIEW menu.

    good luck,

    Victor

Thanks for the suggestions but unfortunately they haven’t helped. I’m pretty confident it’s related to this project. I opened an SD project and had no issues. I think the cause of this problem is one of my settings since I’m working on an HD project being played back to an SD monitor over composite.

    Thanks again

We edit HD also, view on an HD Panasonic LH2600, and the second monitor for the client is a Sony SD.

We don’t use Blackmajic, but on our Kona 3 the output to my second monitor has to be set to 525/29.97 or the client won’t be able to see a thing on his SD screen.

I have my Primary monitor (HD) set to 1080/29.97 for my own viewing
I have my Secondary monitor (SD) set to 525/29.97 for my clients viewing

    good luck

    Victor
