The dropped frame problem might be due to a media or render file being used by your sequence being accidentally placed on the System drive. This is easily resolved by checking where your media is and making sure all your sequence media & renders are in the right place. The easiest way I know of checking for this is by right clicking on the sequence icon in the browser and selecting reconnect media from the drop down menu. Scroll down the Reconnect Files window and make sure that none of your files are going to the system drive.

As for the Audio Splitting? Are all your frame rates the same on the sequence?

Here is the Sony XDCAM Whitepaper. Page 16 describes the procedure on how to export a master back to the disc (in english sorry).

If you have VO only on track 1 when you export to XDCam in Dual Mono Mode A1 will be ISO’d to Track 1 on the disc thus giving you VO only on one channel. Before we Master back to XDCam disc we first export the entire show audio tracks to how we want them ( In your case to start it should be stereo) then we edit back the new stereo audio so when we set our Audio Sequence Settings to Dual Mono track 1 goes to Left and track 2 goes to RIght and the VO is in both channels.

Also remember to set the tracks of Channel 3, 4, etc in your sequence to where you want them to go on the XDCam disc. That is something that is not mentioned in the Whitepaper.

Did you try Copying the Attributes of the effects heavy Animation to the Translated one?

Right click on your first Animation (with effects) and click on COPY in the menu window
Right click on your translated Animation and click PASTE ATTRIBUTES in the menu window

In the Paste Attributes window click on the Video Attributes you want to paste to the Translated clip and press OK.

I mentioned using a LiveType .ipr file to another user who had various titles on their project and needed an easy way to change them all at once instead of cutting and pasting the same change over and over. When I was finally released by those who insisted on not using LiveType for broadcast I stopped mentioning it as a rule.

So how does one get a gig at DFT?

If you double click on Shane’s Master Bin it will open in its own window.
Right click on the header just to the right of “Name” column and select “Show Thumbnail.” This will give you a clip shot of all of your clips which will make it easier to find if you cant remember its name. A cool trick is you can click on the thumbnail and scrub left or right to see the rest of the media.

Another way to view the clip in the Browser is to right click on an empty space in the Browser and select View As Small, Medium or Large Icons.

We use Boris Title Crawl included with FCP 6 for our end credit roll. Our programs air on various networks and cable outlets and we have not had any complaints yet.

there are some on the Cow who will not use Live Type on projects for broadcast.

Not sure why you are exporting your FCP made Text into a movie, but have you selected under Options in your export;
Compression Type – Animation
Compressor Depth – Millions of Colors+

The + is for your alpha
Now when you place your movie on top of video you should see it key thru

I have used multiple clips on top of each other and added Garbage Mattes, Image Mask, Mask Shapes and Soft Edges, but since I became more involved with using color it has made it so much more realistic (and believable) as long as the prep work is done correctly prior to sending to color.

Is this the same problem you posted last week? I have seen audio drifting slightly while mastering in much earlier versions of FCP, but not moving clips on export. For my 2 cents worth does the “Audio Rate” of your song match the audio rate of the sequence?

Have you made sure that there are no media or render files on your system drive?
I usually do that by right clicking on the Sequence Icon in the Browser and selecting “Reconnect Media” just to take a quick look down the list to see where all the media and renders are located. If something is on the System Drive it will need to be moved over to your Raid.
