I’m guessing you’re talking about the old render files and things like that you’ll find I’m your trash while working on a project.
If so, it’s perfectly normal and just stuff that FCP didn’t need anymore.

June 2, 2009 at 2:10 am in reply to: problems with external esata drive need hardware adviceHey! Did you ever get this sorted out? I’m having trouble with a new Pyro A/V Turbo eSATA. The .kext driver file that was on the cd (I’m on the iPhone so I can’t see your post while answering but it was the one that you had but without the “r5” on it) would install but in system profiler it had the card info and said no driver installed. After talking to tech support And getting nothing accomplished, I found this post and Rafaels link led me to the other driver. I installed that after thrasing the other one and now system profiler show the card, and that the driver is installed but I can’t get mr g-raid 3 or 2 other drives (both 1tb eSATA) to show up.
This particular card has 4 ports…2 inside & 2 external…but is setup to use the 2 internal by default and you have to change the jumpers to switch it to the external. I did that and installed it both ways to no avail.
Why would the card show up and the driver show as installed and it not work? Hhhmmmm

LiveType is one of those programs that’s often overlooked but I use it in every project pretty much! It’s great once you understand it.
I would suggest going over to livetypecentral.com and watching the FREE tutorials. They have a ton. They do sell expansion packs and use those for many of the tutorials but you don’t need them. Just use what you already have. I did eventually buy the packs and they are amazing!

I always change format to .png also. FCP likes that format!

I have one in LiveType but I have the 12″ expansion packs and can’t remember if they came in that. Not in front of my machine right now so I can’t look but you might look there!

Sounds like you’re using the free Flip For Mac plug-in which onlys gives you half of your project until you upgrade it. You might add :60 of black to the end of it and try again if you’re in a time crunch. Otherwise, upgrade and you’ll be able to do a lot more with wmv! Even though I HATE that format.

Just to let everyone know…I must’ve hit the ^L keys while capturing or something. I went into “view” and saw that “loop playback” was ticked. Un-checked that and all is well.
We learn something new every day don’t we? 🙂

Check it out…everyone has good ideas fir you and I totally agree that you should invest a little. I just got the MXO2 from Matrox. Does all the cross conversion and everything AND let’s you use a standard HDMI HDTV as a full broadcast monitor. Costs $1595 ( or you can pay a little more and get super fast h.264 encoding. Worth looking at!

I went to Soho Editors and they were fantastic! I took the FCP 201 (or 200…it’s hard to remember the #) and did the test at the end to get my certification. Even if you know FCP pretty well, you’ll still learn tons. Chris was my teacher and he threw in a lot of extra info so it was way cool.
If you do go, please tell admissions (should be a cute girl named Kristen) that Tony Brittan referred you!
