Hello everyone, I posted previously on this forum about creating graphics for my 720p60 – DVCPRO HD project, and I received some very helpful answers but it still didn’t make the graphics my employer is using super smooth and crisp….

We have been reading about LiveType, and was wondering if this is a good utility to use when creating slides for FCP? Do they come out crisp and clear? Are there any special secrets to using LiveType?

Thanks in advance for the replies!

    Erin,

Live Type is good for animated graphics, but you have to learn it’s quirks and settings. If you are just doing titles you’re much better off using Boris Title 3D.

    Have a wonderful day.

    Erin,
The reason your graphics are not smooth and crisp is probably because you are not monitoring properly. If you judge graphics in the Canvas, you most certainly can be fooled! In FCP, graphics can look great, but you won’t know it because you are viewing them properly.

To see the true quality of your graphics, you need to hook up your system to a broadcast monitor. If you do not have a broadcast monitor, if you set your Canvas to 100% precisely, then you can at least get a close approximation of your rendered graphics.

This is probably one of the most common confusions to those new to FCP.

LiveType is one of those programs that’s often overlooked but I use it in every project pretty much! It’s great once you understand it.

I would suggest going over to livetypecentral.com and watching the FREE tutorials. They have a ton. They do sell expansion packs and use those for many of the tutorials but you don’t need them. Just use what you already have. I did eventually buy the packs and they are amazing!
