    Sorry about that.

You will need to export your program using compressor to MPEG-2. Then import that into DVDSP and create your DVD. It is a fairly streamlined process, but let us know if you have any problems along the way.

I believe that you will have to get FCP 5 in order to capture HDV, which is what that camera uses.

I think I’m going to skip that “upgrade” and stay at 5.0.4. Sounds like a lot of problems, and the only benefit that I’ve heard of is for users of a laptop or iMac with an intel chip or someone with a P2 camera.

Sucks that you are having all these weird problems Walter. Did you ever get those DVDs to mount? How hard would it be for you to go back to QT7.0 and FCP 5.0.4? Might be worth it to do so and let Apple work out the bugs on this newest update.

Sorry, but I don’t believe you can do that. Wish ya could though… It would have helped me out big time in the past. I really hope they beef up this program’s features a bit in the next release (and not just extra LiveFonts).

[Bob Flood] “I can do various FLV exports out of FCP”

    Hi Bob,

I don’t seem to have any “FLV” (flash video right?) export options out of my version of FCP (5.0.4) so you might already have another piece of software or QT compontent that I do not have.

I do know that Sorenson Squeeze will do that, and After Effects might as well. I, too, have never seen a FLV option with Compressor so you probably will have to buy another program to do this.

  • Remove it from your FCP plugin folder and you should be good. The path is:

    MacintoshHD>Library>Application Support>FinalCutProSystemSupport>Plugins

Give ‘er a try and see. Not bad at all on my dual 2Gig G5, but I suppose for long-form stuff it would be a pain. The graphics compression is very noticeable though and simply unacceptable for the work that I do.

May 18, 2006 at 3:19 pm in reply to: REndering

I’ve had situations where FCP would refuse to render a clip. I use 10-bit uncompressed, and I think that is where the problem lies because sometimes opening the sequence settings>video processing and switching to 8-bit will solve it. It happened to me in particular when I try to use Motion Blur, especially in conjunction with a drop shadow. Some Sapphire plugs also don’t want to render in 10-bit.

Man, I hope they fix the 10-bit issues with the next release.
