Some DV Cams will take a firewire input and pass it thru to the video out for TV playback.

You could take the video camera out put and run it to you DVD Recorder.

I have never set it up like this, but a friend of mine had his system set up like this before he could afford to do it right.

I was going to suggest Disk Warrior as well, but my experience has been that if it doesn’t show up in Disk Utility then Disk Warrior won’t see it either.

But like John said It’s not that expensive and it could work, plus it’s always good to have on hand.

I have the one from Too much too soon and never use it be cause it doesn’t count down.

What I’ve done is create a sequence the lenght of the countdown put a black slug in it, put the “time sequence in my project running in reverse and then add a Timecode Reader effect to it.

Make sure your orgininal sequene with the black slug starts at 0 instead of 1:00:00:00.

My IT department removed the clip from the server.

I will keep the suggestions in mind.

As I said I’m using Cleaner 6.5 for Mac.
The quality, in my and most everyone else’s option is pretty good, but Cleaner takes forever to encode. 25 min for a 1 min clip and the majority of stuf we so it 30 min informercials. At that rate it will take 12-15 hours to encode the piece.

Can’t spend that much time on it.
i’m going to give Squeeze for Flash a try.

This one I am not sure about.

To get all the shortcuts that are setup goto Tool>Keyboard Layout> Customize (or Option H) to open the keyboard layout and on the right side you can see all the catagories and if you twirl down on the arrow there will be a list of shortcuts that are all ready set up, plus you can use this to remap the keyboard add shortcuts that might not be se up or move them to some where you like better.

Then you can save the layout and even copy it to a jump drive as a backup or to take with you to different systems if you freelance.

What is the time ratio for a piece?
How long does it take to encode a 1 min piece.

Right now I’m using Autodesk Cleaner and for an 8 min piece it is taking arounf 4hours to encode and the quality is still not up to my Operation Directors expectations. I liked what I saw on http://www.doingindy.com.

What compression ratio, bitrate and other settings did you use?
