You haave to set the sync (hte center button on the top in the canvas) to Open. Then what ever is palying in the timeline will play in the viewer as well.

I appologize, my wording was wrong.

I just trashed my prefs to see for sure/

It does not say “none”, under format it say all formats and under rate it says all rates.

From what I was told and what worked with me if these two items are set to anything else the the timeline is not open format.
Meaning it will accept any format, but it will need to be rendered to play.

Again; I’m sorry for the mis-wording.

I think the choice of None was under Fromat.
It’s been a couple of weeks since I did it.

All I can say is that I did what I told you and it worked for me.

Prior to trashing the pref’s and doing this I was never asked

“For best performance your sequence and External Video should be set
to the format of the clips you are editing.

Change sequence settings to match the clip settings?”

After I did I saw that message for the first time.

I had the same problem.

I installe 6 and FCP was not accepting any format I laid in the time line, without having to render it.

I asked one of the apple rep and the FCS2 tour that was in Miami last week and he said that I must have choosen a default setting for my timeline when I installed FCP, which I had.

eh said to trash the pref and when I open FC set my default timeline to none and it will now be open format.

I did that on my system at home and it worked.

That’s were I got that information from, first hand experience.

Where did you get your information that it’s “totally wrong”?

Also the first time you run FCP after the 6.0 install it will ask you what you default timeline will be if you set it to anything other than none you will not have the open timeline.

If you did this, just treash the pref and launc FCP again and it will ask this again, choose none and you’ll be set.

This happens with any CD that is burned on the digital mixer at work. It’s not a computer.
It’s a digital mixer with an internal harddrive and you can burn the session or mix to a cd when done.

Figured it out.

Apparently you can’t put Borix FX on a clip that has any other filters already (or at least other third party filters).

That seems king of limiting.

Go into File>User Preference.
Goto the Editing Tab and change the duration of “Still/Freeze Duration” to 00:00:00:01.

I just tried it and it worked fine for me.
