I made the backgroung white to illustrate what is happening.

Whatever is white in the still (normally Black) shows is transparent.

The area that is black around the lens flair remains black when I bring it into FCP.

Also I’m not rendering it out, I’m bringing the .motn file directly into FCP, this has always worked in the past.

I found out at the FCPS2 Tour in Miami the other night that there is a Stabilizing featur in Motion. I’m not sure how to use it, nor have I had time to look into it yet, but just to mention it.

I checked and the project properties are set properly.

I think the issue is that the is a Lens Flare Element that is not (or will not allow) and alpha channel to be set properly.

The exact template I started with was the Tech Blue Lower Third from Motion 3 and I tuned off the User Content layer and all the layers in “Lower Third’ except the Titlebar-White to get the lower third I wanted, but it seems like the Lens Flare Element is causing the problem.

Anyway around this.

I really want to make this a Master Template that I can just trhow in from Final Cut and change the text info.

It’s just a rapid cut back and forth between the two scenes.

Take the first scene and put it on the lowest avaiable track V1 put the second on V@ starting at the first high hat.

Now the tough part is finding the cut points.

Expand you timeline out to a point that you just see the section you are working on and maybe a little more. Turn on the audio wavform in the time line ( Option Apple W) and scrub through the time line (with Audio Scrubbing turned on) untiul you hear or see in the wave form the next Highhat hit.

Make an edit with the blade tool and continue doing this until you are through the section then remove every other segmnet of V2.

I didn’t try that.

There are 24 clips so I could have done it, but as I said earlier (mau=ybe you missed it).
The re-dig worked fine.

At this point I would just like to know what happened, but it seems there is no clear cut answer.

First of all I do have QT 7.1.6 the FCPS2 installer would not install without updating to it first.

Secondly, I read that post and there did not seem to be a decisive conclusion.

I don’t remember if I lost my Reel aname like some of the other said they did, but I do know that a one point i switched my “on timecode break” preferences to warn after from make new clip because I was addind pad to the in ad out pint that the VHS had and I guess 8 sec was to much post roll for one clip.

No it wasn’t, because it was controlling the Mini DVD camera (a Sony SC_D543 consumer unit BTW)

It is a strange thing, I’ve never run acrossit before either.

I did know about the VHS, and when I was a sound guy I had the same thing done for me. ( we always had to record it on CH1 of the audio for the sound guy)

Sorry guys; I forgot to mention the original footage is Mini DV.
John was right the VHS was a refference.

I’m using FCPS2 or 6.0 however you want to look at it.

All was fine on the recapture, but I can’t figure out what happened the first time and I hate not knowing.

Any ideas would be appreaciated for future reffence.
