Have you tried playing with the various “Deinterlace Methods” in Project Properties?

Last year I was working on a project with 60i source footage that I wanted to slow down by about 20:1 . I recall that I had a ghosting problem similar to what you describe until I tweaked that setting, but I can’t remember what I had chosen. I can’t look now because I am in the middle of a long render and don’t want to open a second instance of Vegas.

FYI I have an old but fun Blade 120 SR. VERY hard to fly, it is mostly in the hangar these days – I have never crashed it but I scared myself the last time I flew it ;-p .

Everyone makes Quads these days, so hard to decide.

For what it is worth, I’ve had good success with 701 back when I used SVP11 .

Curious, what version do you have now? I have saved copies of 595 and 683. 585 crashed a LOT for me.

James, this might sound goofy, but one way to get really, really smooth “capture” of what you see on a game console is to video the screen with a video camera. I have done this with great success on several occasions. It avoids all the hassle of codecs, screen capture, dropped frames, etc.

Just be sure that you get the white balance perfect, the focus perfect, the camera exactly centered and normal to the screen, and make sure that the frame rate is not a multiple of the screen refresh rate, or you will get banding.

Have a look at this vid – I shot the Google Earth sequences during the 1st 30 sec on the video using that technique. The HDR-CX550V is not true 1920×1080, but it still came out OK for YouTube:

If you have SVP12, you might want to just use the “upload to Youtube”, as has been suggested.

I have only tested this once, but the result looked pretty good.

Yes … and the sad thing is that an nVidia K5000 rated at 2150 GFLOPS goes to waste because of the problems with the drivers and Vegas!

On a slightly related note, for the 1st time ever I tested the SVP12 “Upload to Youtube” using the red car benchmark. GPU use was zero, zip, nada. The render took about 6 minutes, generated a 95 MB file. I did not time the upload; when I got back to my computer it was already on my channel. Pretty cool actually; all that was needed was to push one button and let the computer do the rest of the work.

The quality is surprising, and it looks like it automatically took care of the Computer to Studio RGB conversion. Have a look:
