16 SDI inputs? Where did you get that idea?
If you by a capture card, you will get 1 SDI input. FCP is a non-linear editor…not a live switcher.

I don’t believe so. And Avid is an NLE, not a switcher. You can’t have video go in and out at the same time. You’d have to digitize the entire show, add the bug, then output. Not the best solution seeing that you’d be losing quality by capturing and output.

Uh…those are all built by graphics guys using After effects. They aren’t plug-ins. They are elements that we use and composite over our interview and clip footage.
Time to learn After Effects…

I have, on occasion (twice now) played a cut thru iChat AV from my DSR-11 deck. A the same time I was on the phone with the producer (who was in Hawaii) who gave me notes.
But…again…both parties need a mac.
Most the time I do what Walter does…post my cut on my iDisk with TC for producers to view and give notes. Beats running a DVD over with every change….

Where is he viewing this footage? On the computer monitor, or a professional calibrated NTSC monitor connected to your system?
Try this…connect the deck (while it is connected to your computer) to a NTSC monitor or TV then play the tape. Then play the exact same captured footage and see if it looks different.

Did you press”R” to get the Roll tool? Press “N” to turn off Snapping? Tried double clicking on the cut to open trim mode?

What resolution? AVR codecs? Avid doesn’t make those available. Only the current compressions: 1:1, 15:1, 20:1.

You are going to have to do it all manually.
How do you “disable” a clip? Never heard of that…

Yes.
I have an iBook 500Mhz with FCP 3 on it, and I used it to cut a TV pilot, several short films, a behind the scenes video of a TV movie, and news footage for a feature film (which I also incorporated After Effects).
Keep it simple and it will work fine.
