    Hello,
Just keen to know How much KB per frame FCP captures on uncompressed & compressed mode.

Since Avid is giving 800KB per frame. R we closer to it.

Also I checked inmy G5 machince on FCP 4.5HD ican’t do manual trimming i.e when I drag it through mouse trim doesn’t happen. I ve found it when my timeline is more than 45mts of editied footage.

8bit uncompressed is generally 20mb/sec while 10bit uncompressed is around 30-40mb/sec. You can figure the per frame rate from there.

Did you press”R” to get the Roll tool? Press “N” to turn off Snapping? Tried double clicking on the cut to open trim mode?

any of those work for you?

    Walter,

I know it’s only a typo on your part, but just so Gracias doesn’t get confused…

    It’s 20MBps (MegaBytes per second) and 30-40MBps, not megabits per second as the lower-case ‘b’ in “8bit…20mb/sec” implies, for 8 and 10-bit UC. e.g., DV/DVCAM is 25Mbps.

Gracias, download the AJA Data Rate Calculator to determine size and data rate for a wide range of formats. Be sure to open “Preferences” for details on Binary and Decimal measurement.
