    Greetings,

I have a bunch of older files that were made for a Media Composer. I am looking for the QT codec that will allow me to play these files. I can’t seem to find the right codec on Avids website. Does anyone know how I can get my hands on this?

What resolution? AVR codecs? Avid doesn’t make those available. Only the current compressions: 1:1, 15:1, 20:1.

Do a Google for “Avid Meridien Codec”. I can’t remember just what web site (Avid’s?) if found them on a year ago, but they are out there.
I have the Meridien Uncompressed and the Meridien Compressed codecs installed on my machine, and they work fine although a bit pokey.
These are newer codecs. I’m not sure about the AVR(n) codecs or their availability.

To be honest, it’s been so long, I am unsure of which codec. These were made probably 5 years ago, and the Media Composers were old back then.

I did grab the meridian off of avids website, but no luck…

I’m sorry to say, but AVID doesn’t support the AVR codecs in OSX.
You could install them in OS9 as a workaround though.

    Hey, that’s AVID for ya!
I’m soo happy we made the switch to FCP!
