Great thanks. That is good news.

Oh that’s a relief. I thought it was just me.

If you’re editing with a PPC system then I recommend using the PPC version of the software. 5.6.2 I think it is. Never had any problems with this one. Universal on PPC has never worked properly for me.

Canon was definitely set to 48k. I have had this issue before with footage shot on the Sony V1 as well.

I think I have found out how to fix it. What I did was I switched to Easy Setup DV48 then loaded a DV tape thus kicking the machine back into DV mode. When I looked at the clip settings in the capture window low and behold channel 2 is turned off!! I switched it back on. Ejected the DV tape and loaded an HDV one. I then had to restart FCP to get it to notice the change. Opened log and capture and it’s now working. There must be some kind of bug here.
One to be aware of. I have seen quite a few posts on the Apple forums complaining of the same problems.

I think $499 is very reasonable. Compare it to the Adobe CS3 upgrade or imagine you’ve bought Avid then you really would be up for some serious cash.

Has anyone actually seen a demo of FCP 6’s capture tool?
I was hoping for an update too, but am still blown away by Color.
Once learnt this will be a whole new stream or earning power for us.
I’ve already worked as a grader on many projects. Didn’t want to but I just
seem to be the one that people call.

So if you want to separate yourself from the pack, I’d learn Color until it’s
like the back of your hand.

I bet it will be a license to print money.

I wouldn’t mind it if all the disparate apps at least had a unified interface.
It all looks good but the thought of now having to learn yet another program, Color
is not something I’m looking forward to.

In today’s busy world getting the time to sit down and learn new versions of: Motion, Soundtrack, Color, Photoshop, After Effects and Illustrator is a luxury I don’t have.
As a college of mine said today, he needs two of him. One to keep learning the other to keep earning.

Probably for now exporting as a batch list and then opening with Excel is the best way to go.
Correct me if I’m wrong but I think the digital heaven solution is for printing timelines and not bins.
I know they are considering adding this feature but will probably wait to see what happens at NAB.

Not a a quirk at all. It all depends on how you work. I never drag to the timeline, always use Overwrite or Insert. Must be my Avid heritage.

It will be “HAPPY 8th BIRTHDAY FINAL CUT PRO!!” at NAB this year.

Hard to believe it’s been around that long!
