Edit to Tape not frame accurate all of a sudden?

I have posted on this issue numerous times recently – most recent link below – with no practical response from Blackmagic. There are very clearly many customers experiencing this issue, and yet this last thread didn’t even warrant a response from Blackmagic.

I’ve now been unable to accurately record to Digi Beta for over 2 months. I have been a loyal user of Blackmagic cards since their very beginning, but this issue has left me with no alternative but to start seeking alternative hardware. It’s all very well to keep releasing new products and new drivers, but failure to address such a fundamental issue with your exisiting products and customer base is an incredible disappointment to me.

i’m having exactly the same problems with all 6.+ versions and some of the 5.8.+ releases.
the last version where i can be sure to correctly edit to tape is 5.9.2.

i would recommend using this one until a correct working version 6 is released.

If you’re editing with a PPC system then I recommend using the PPC version of the software. 5.6.2 I think it is. Never had any problems with this one. Universal on PPC has never worked properly for me.

Hi Mel,

Which previous version of drivers were you running which worked well for you? Does the problem affect both your Digibeta and Betacam SP? How do you connect the DeckLink Pro to the Betacam SP given that one is SDI and the other is analog? Are you working in NTSC or PAL?

I would doubt that the ProApps 4.0 is a factor as it was mostly an interface update for several of the ProApps. I can’t rule it out but I suspect the problem lies elsewhere. If it is a driver problem, we’ll certainly fix it. However we check with post houses with lots of decks which are reporting no problems so your answers will be important to our understanding of the problem.

Hi Luke!, I’ve the same problem since months. I’ve two machines, one with old computer g5 dual processor and decklink hd, with 5.6 driver and i have no problems with it because i don’t update this. And I’ve a new computer g5 quad with multibridge extreme the last drivers of all, I’ve a digibeta A500P, and hdcamsr SRW-5500, and i’ve the problems with this two machines only in the g5 quad, and multibrige, the old computer with decklink hd is ok. The problems is a frame ofset or two, sometimes 1 or two and is impossible to make a edit to tape with the system because in the case of inserts always is a problem.
I need to fix it, because I need to update the old system for prores support but i need a guarantee that the 2 system work correctly.

I have the problems since months, with final cut 5, with final cut 6, with mac os 10.4.5, mac os 10.4.6..10…, and with all the blackmagic drivers since this time.

Please I need your help.
