Download from the Avid Website the DNxHD Codec – it is an Avid codec – very good high resolution close to Animation Codec Quality and very small!

Well, one of the great things about the new MB is that it’s not hardware or video card related anymore since you can switch between CPU and GPU based rendering.
I did not make a comparison test, since I do not have the old magic bullet anymore.
But by feeling – yes, not like double speed, but it is faster.
and there’s a lot of other new things that are great:
– Calypso – a new tool to clean skin – great for cheesy video clips 😉
– All types of vignettes can now be ratio changed like in COLOR – so no more limitation to only full circles.
– You have one short cut “\” with which you can toggle your grade on & off like in COLOR – great time safer and speeds up the workflow!!!!
– Has the new 3 Way Colour Wheel correction tool – like Colorista has.
– Lens distortion repair tool – to compensate lens distortion – or create one if you need it.
-“Pop” also a new tool – which is a bit comparable to “Vibrance” in PS – it pops colors and contrast more – easy adjustment with one slider and it does quiet an awesome job – specially when you need to work quick and rough.
– better scopes
new haze and flare tool and some more new tools

Shit, I sound already like a MB salesman 😉 no, seriously – it’s a great update!

And thanx for all your good tips. Actually that’s how I worked before with EX1 Footage, but then somebody told me once, I should transcode to Prores – runs more stable and faster in FX Rendering.
But apparently it’s not true.

Just a tip for the future: That you are a newbie is not the problem. Just be more specific !!!!!
If u want an advice about the camera write which one it is!!!
And write into the right forum for it!

Hi Rafael,

Thanx again for ur quick answer.
Just one is totally confused me now: first u write that u don’t understand why I had it in xdcam codec since I’m not delivery to xdcam. But in ur last post u write, that u don’t understand why I transcode to ProRes. Since I have FCP 6 my workflow with EX footage was always to transfer it to ProRes in the Log&Transfer window. Is there something wrong with that procedure?

Hi Raphael,

The weird thinh is, that i did not set the codex to xdcam. FCP did that automatically when I dropped my first clip into the timeline.
Besides that, I have just the choice of 8-Bit YUV or “always render in high recision YUV” – the check box with YUV 10-Bit is greyed out in the timeline options.
Any thoughts on that?
When I logged and transfered the EX-1 footage, i had my preferences of the Log& Transfer tool set to Apple ProRes 422.
Any idea, why it autmatically is choosing the XDCAM Format?
Should I force the timeline into Apple ProRes?

Hi Rafael,

yes, I tested it – with new Bullet it works – it automatically switches to CPU Render then, which means
no more artifacts and Green Fields in the Picture!
By the way: Nice new Photo!!!
