Thanks John. This forum is great. I can always count on an answer from it’s members.

I didn’t know you could use animated gif files. That’s pretty neat.

Just above your preview window you can change the quality of how good your preview looks. Keep in mind that the preview has no bearing on how the final render will look. It’s simply a preview. Unless you have a very fast computer it’s best to keep the preview on Preview (Auto).

After doing all the color correcting for broadcast, apply the Sony Broadcast filter on the entire project from the video output FX in the preview window area. That’s the safeguard so even if something goes over a bit, the filter will take care of it.

This is a free plugin that allows you to easily render and upload a project to youtube. I use it all the time.

Here’s a link to the tutorial on it. It’s called “video4youtube”

  • In addition to what John said, the Sony “color match” plugin is helpful in matching the colors.

I looked at your video and it looks good to me without a lot of “special effects”. Since it is quite dark I would suggest you use the Sony “curves” plugin to boost the highs and maybe use the “Color corrector secondary” to boost the color a bit.
For a touch of the special effect try the Sony “light ray” filter.

With all the tens of thousands of people using GoPro cameras you’d think they would look into a fix for this one! I was traveling all summer filming and editing on my laptop. All that time I thought it was my laptop bogging down until I got back and found differently.

Ctrl L will separate the audio from the video and visa versa.

I don’t use takes but sometimes it’s helpful. Once I’ve expanded the tracks and want to switch between takes, Grazie told me a great hot key to mute and unmute an event which is Ctrl? which lets me use another track take easily.
