    Hi All
    Happy new year!
I would like to create in Vegas Pro 10 a pulsing Red Dot with a transparent background to overlay a city on a map to highlight it.
I would prefer if I could move this pulsing dot around say to another city on the map when I move on. In other words import this file then using the pan crop effect to position it onto another city.
I would be using this file for my travel videos as I progress around the state.
    Can anybody help?
    Much appreciated
    Thanks

What you may not be aware of that Vegas can also import animated GIFs too! I’ve done this and they work very well. It all depends how accurate and fussy you need to be?

    Cheers

I didn’t know you could use animated gif files. That’s pretty neat.

Yea, I’ve created several video overlays using animated GIF’s and they work really well. Plus there are lots of them available on the web. That was what I was going to suggest. Of course, using generated media in a nested project is probably more natural for a Vegas Pro editor to accomplish.

Yea, there is always more than one way to accomplish something with Vegas Pro. It’s a very versatile program.

Check this one out… from a contest entry in 2009. About half of it’s animated GIFs:

You can also layer previous video loops/clips with green screen or alpha channel (has to be raw or a few other specialized formats, since compression artifacts in the alpha layer is a Bad Thing). With some restrictions, SWF animations also play in Vegas.
