Most of the ground sequences are shot on Varicam, but the Cineflex aerials were shot on HDCAM.

Why not digitize to NLE straight from the camera in real time then make your DVD from the time line. If it has to be 4:3 then convert it in the time line. 4:3 from 16:9 is not a down convert as you are working in SD.

  • I’m on 5.1.4. I added the .mov to all clips in the log window and successfully re-built the time line.

    Many thanks for your reply.

  • Thanks Shane. No It’s an older project and the client wants a slight re-edit!!! My footage is from the SPX800. One thought is that my offlines have the .mov extension, whereas now I notice the extension is not there when I re-import.

    Hi edit

Never had any problems but here in PAL land most SD TV is 16:9. I have done shoots for BBC on SP in 16:9 no problem. Most of my work is corporate and after edit I laterly mastered on to DVCAM. I may be wrong but I find Beta SP to be a lot more noisy, so I don’t know how that would look up-rezzed to HD.

I now shoot on DVCPRO 50 with the SPX800 (P2). I could never go back to tape.

Any format can be 16:9. If you dub your dv to Beta SP it will be anamorphic no different to the DV or any other format. What it won’t have is the electronic flag for widescreen.

I used to shoot with a DXCD35 and a PVV3 back end and had the camera set on 16:9.

Pal land or NTSC no difference.

Never used Firestore, don’t like it. All I know is you need to feed it from the Firewire out. Sorry.

No problem. I would be interested in your thoughts on the camera, I have been looking at XDCAMHD.

    All the best

I use the SPX800 so I assume the menu operation is similar.

    1. To access the full menu press and hold the menu button for at least 5 seconds until the menu appears, this should be the full system menu which is at least 3 or 4 pages. Selecting items is by pressing the rotary switch and changing values by rotating the switch.

    2. The flip out LCD should come on when opened. If not check that the ‘save’ switch is not engaged.

    Hope this helps.
