If I select a clip in a bin it there an easy way to find where it is in a sequence?
In Adobe Premiere you select the clip and go “find clip in sequence” but I am unable to determine the FCP equivelent

Oh, there is a find function in the sequence. So you could search for a shot in there.

You can do a FIND for the clip name. In the timeline, press APPLE-F and type in the name of the clip, press return.

[Tom Wolsky] “Which sequence would it look in?”

when you use “find in sequence” with Premiere it provides a pull down with all the occurances of the clip in any and all sequences; then you can click on any entry and it will open that sequence with the required clip selected.

[BazinoZ] “when you use “find in sequence” with Premiere”

FCP isn’t Premiere…so many of the commands and features will be different. Premiere isn’t FCP…and it will lack much of what FCP does.

Yeah I am aware of all that although they are very similar in many ways also. Its just me coming to grips with both a new editing app AND a different platform. But the APPLE+F did the trick. Just as a matter of interest I need it as I am doing an online HDV conform from a project edited as DV from the down converted HDV. Just need it to check that it was all doing things accurately.

You could also give the clip a color label in the browser and it will color all instances of that clip in any sequence it’s used in.

Load the clip into the Viewer and match frame.

This is indeed a handy tip!
