FCP brings all audio in at the levels they’re recorded at. Field audio is very often recorded at -12 or -20db. In FCP, which is set at 0db, levels will be low.

What am I missing? If the audio levels are recorded at the standard -12 or -20db they end up being low in FCP at 0bd. Can FCP be set differently? In my situation, levels are always low.

  • Hi all. I’ll be buying an EX3 as soon as it comes out. I currently have a G5 dual 2.7. Can I edit EX35mps natively or should it be edited uncompressed? I’ve been told trying to edit native xdcam ex on a G5 would be very painful.

    thanks,

  • There is a way to change the speed and keep the same timeline in and out…double click the clip in the timeline to open it in the viewer. Go to the motion tab and open the time remapping tab. The beginning and end of the clip are keyframed. Adjust the right keyframe up or down to change the speed.

Shane, I actually posted this right after reading the previous one you referred to. I guess my question is really about the ability to use the one DVI port to output to dual monitors for editing and to another for monitoring. that wasn’t answered in the previous post.

I’m planning on getting the EX1 and upgrading my power pc G5 to accomodate HD. All the specs on the Apple site show that this should be possible. No mention of Pro-res HQ not being able to run on this box. Is it just too slow or incompatible.

    thanks,

How does the rolling shutter handle flourescent lighting? I read that there is an issue with this as well.

Walter, that brings up a question I’ve had. Why does the canvas degrade the image? The viewer, showing the original material usually looks good. I use an external monitor but it would be really nice if the canvas image didn’t suck.
