I believe that you need Tri-sync to do anything but 59.94/29.97, which is what we use
(so I hope I am answering correctly ;))

Could be a bad user setting. Try creating a new user. Does the error occur with other users? If it does, close Avid, search for “MCState” and delete them (should be 1 for each user), restart Avid.

    Just a thought,

In Quicktime Inspector, does it indicate an Alpha channel? If so, on import, set alpha channel to ignore

    Hi,

Just a thought, when rendering, are you rendering to the drive on the Unity or are you rendering to the local (C:/D:) drive?

If you are using Marquee title tool, after typing a character, right-click in window and in pop-up menu select “direction” and select “right-to-left”

December 31, 2009 at 10:27 pm in reply to: transitions effecting other layers

    Hi Lori,

I use the “Effect Editor” and add keyframes to adjust foreground (transparancy) from 0% to 100% to create the transitions (dissolves)… You can also use the crop, position, scaling, etc. to add to your transitions.

    Hope this helps,

    Cheers,

    Hi Peter,

Just found this thread and thought I’d chime in…

The PVW2800 has (IIRC) 2 switches to detect record lock-out on the tape. The large format tapes use a tab on the left (looking down on bottom of tape) and the small tape has the tab on the right.

My guess is that the lock-out detector switch for the small cassettes has gone bad.

    Hope this helps,

    Cheers,

February 15, 2008 at 7:01 pm in reply to: adrenaline paint effect

    Hi, Jack

My method is to use “paint effect” to create the circle (white or what-ever color you choose) Mode set to solid. – I usually set “feathering” to 2 to 4 to soften the edges…

Then control-c (copy on the pc)… control-v (paste on the pc)… Grab each of the control points (of the second circle) to size this circle smaller then the first circle. Mode set to erase…

June 22, 2007 at 5:05 am in reply to: how to rearrange the timeline tracks?

another idea would be to mark in @ beginning of track and mark out @ end of track, copy to clipboard (control-c). in source window pull down menu, open clipboard, patch as needed and drop into timeline.

    Hi Chris

I have used MPEG Streamclip 1.1 with good results from squared5.com

It’s free and a fairly small download (492K) & converts a lot of different formats

They recommend WinXP (though it runs fine for me under Win 2K)
