    Friends,
I am a lowly writer/producer who edits rough cuts of stories and then finds more tech-savvy folks to help with post-production editing.
I am editing on AVID Media Composer 3.0 on a Compaq PC and have been very happy importing all kinds of media. Today we received a hard drive with footage in .mov files. I think they are from a Final Cut project but I am not sure.

My AVID sees them and imports them to bins, but all I get is a white box where the video and audio should be.
I am sure it is a simple change in some setting, but I am not sure what to do.
    Is it about interlacing?

    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

If you get a white screen when you import into Avid then you’re missing the codec to play those files. Open one of them in Quicktime – you’ll probably get a white screen there too. Hit Ctrl+I to open the Movie Inspector. Tell us what it lists under Format for the codec.

Thanks for your quick response. When I looked at the format in QT, it said that the footage is DVC Pro HD 720p60

I will try to reset the format for Avid to DVC Pro to see if it will import unless you have a better idea.

    Thanks.

    Just a thought,

In Quicktime Inspector, does it indicate an Alpha channel? If so, on import, set alpha channel to ignore
    HTH

    Cheers,
    Randy
