You should have the ‘burst if you are planning to do any “insert” edits on your BetaSp decks… (prevents horizontal shifting) as mentioned above… As an option, you could feed the composite output from the Digi-beta into the mojo sync input to force the mojo into sync with d-beta (don’t know if it would work, but worth a try)

    Just a thought

I use Photoshop 7, but I think this works the same in 6…

Using “select” menu, go to “load selection”
Under “channel:” make sure it’s set to “transparency” (of the layer with your object ie:lower 1/3)
Click OK (under window menu, check “channels” to make sure you have an alpha channel)
Using “select” menu, go to “save selection”
Under “channel:” – set to “new” and give name of “Alpha” or “Alpha 1” (photoshop allows for multiple channels, so I use “Alpha 1” to prevent my own confusion)
Do a “save as” (I use tiff for format) and make sure the “Alpha Channels” is selected
Import into Avid (under “options”, check “invert existing” (alpha)) and click OK
Avid should import with alpha channel

I know there are faster ways, but this is the one I use

I think there are adapters available… though if your handy with a soldering iron, the XLR pin 2 is hot (bnc center conductor) and connect bnc shield to pins 1&3. This should give you what you need.

I can only tell you how it works on my system (MC9000 Meridian running vers. 11 software)… that said, on the back of the BOB (break out box that handles Video in and out), there is a XLR in/out that is labeled “LTC” (Longitudinal Time Code). This should give you timecode out of your timeline or off clips played in your source window.

If your MC has a “timecode out” feature, just set your BSP to display T.C. (turn character display on), feed the video clips out to the BSP and record BSP video into the VHS. I do this regularly using our MC 9000 and a Sony PVW-2800.

    press “menu” button,
    press counter “reset” button,
press “set” button (next to “menu” button)
    – should reset all menu items to factory defaults
(this is for the PVW-2800 series)
