Perfect! Thank you! And thank you for showing me how to do it. You know we work at a visual level and so many posts are hard to follow without the “Show Me” part. Easily worth a thousand words. This job was dropped into my lap and so I have exactly 2 weeks experience with editing so thanks for the patience!

I guess what I want is to have it look like on a documentary where they show the page and then either highlight certain words with color or have the rest of the page sort of drop opacity leaving the desired words brightest.

Wow, so easy. I guess I was stressed after watching this:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nDVbA1Patw&feature=relmfu

and figuring I had to go through all of that.
Now my biggest concern is rendering. These videos I am creating are thrilling, exciting training videos for a plumbing supply company (YAWN!! Ball Valves 101, Water Heaters, etc.) that will be used for training new employees. Most of the time they will either be burned to a DVD for play on a 52″ LCD TV, or loaded on to a thumb drive to be viewed either on a computer screen or projected on a large screen. I have been rendering to 1280×720-30p but sometimes the animated text jumps. So the last one I rendered to HD 1920×1080-60p was smooth, but is that overkill?

Ah, you make it sound so easy – like flying a 747. I will give it a try and I appreciate the help.

Thanks, that makes sense. But how about an event where you chop out the middle and want to stitch the 2 ends together and move it around as one event instead of 2? I’m doing some interviews where that would be helpful.

I found my answer. As a newbie, feel free to pummel me repeatedly with an old tennis shoe. I have learned the value of the Search box and I promise not to ask anything more without an exhaustive search there first.
