Thanks to both of you. I usually always shoot at 30fps, but for some reason I didn’t check it after shooting a night football game so I kicked myself twice when I saw it was 60fps. I agree that sitting through 2.5 hours would be a pain in the butt – I had to in order to film it! So I will break it up into pieces, there are some natural cutting points as they did have breaks.
And John, you’re right on the rendering. It took 6.5 hours to do the whole thing!

Another question: When I cut and paste clips is there a way to have the envelopes go with them so I don’t have to re-do them all?

Thanks John. I updated my graphics driver, rebooted and it seems to have taken care of it so far. I will keep your tip handy if it surfaces again.

John, you’re a wizard! Using the calculator you recommended I was able to take a 4:00 minute 300MB video full of camera moves and knock it down to 39MB and it is more than satisfactory. In fact it really isn’t far from the bigger one at all. The IT guys are now happy that I am not gonna bog down the company intranet with large video files. Thanks again!

BTW, I’m still running that old Movie Studio HD 11. Management won’t upgrade cuz they’re pushing me to FCP, but I like it here just fine.

Thanks John! Now this may be totally obvious, but how do I find out what my audio bit-rate is? Once I have the info from the bit-rate calculator, what do I do with it? Should I re-render to those settings or take the finished project to something like Handbrake?

Never mind… I went back to the “Basics” board scrolled down and found them. I may be dumb but I sure am stupid. So why aren’t the rest up top under Sony Vegas Tutorials? Most people like to start at the very beginning – a very good place to start.

    Thanks John,
I have Movie Studio HD 11. I have been pushing for Pro 11 or 12, but the bosses seem to think what I am producing is “good enough so why upgrade?” Sigh…… I will keep pushing.
