I do not agree with you about this Sean. Our eyes and brain can not tell one field from the next but you can catch even quite small differences.
My first job in a TV station (some 22 years ago) was to preview programs and movies before to be broadcasted. We used to watch with the 1’C or Betacam at double speed (other wise no way to watch everything) and belive me that we could catch an small drop in luma or a drop-line in a single field. Just training the eyes.

Sorry i’m back. When you record Drop-frame Tc you jump a Frame every 10 seconds. In one minute you skeep 6 frames. In one hour 360 frames. So in one hour program could be a differnce of 12 second more or less if the TC is missinterpreted. But you get a much higher difference. Almost one minute. Too much. I don’t know what to think.

Long time that I don’t work with DAT and I don’t remember well. Could be because you have record Drop-frame TC and FC is interpreting the captured as No Drop-frame TC? I think this would match the differnce in between the two TCs.

I’ve got the JVC DT-V1710CGE and I’m ver happy with it. I use it at the moment for SD, but is ready to set the HD input card.
Ikegamy and Barco has been considered always the best two brands for monitors, but the prices..If you could get an Ikegami for a good price I think wold be a very good investment.
if not, don’t hesitate to buy the JVC.

Just download (free) MPGStreamclip. If you go to re-edit the picture from the DVD, export as 8 or 10b Uncompress.

where did read this about the gamma correction for DV footage? Sorry to say that that is completly wrong. DV codecs has been designed with the necesaries gamma adjustment to be watched in TV sets. In fact FC change the gamma for preview purposes so in your FC canvas look more or less as a CRT monitor. (You may have read something about changing the gamma of the stills when bring in them to FC).
What you need to look is a the Videoscope that is the only device that will tell you the real levels of your video signal. A TV set helps you with the interlacing problems and with safe area of the image, but is not a profesional monitor and you can not adjust it properly.
Ricardo please look for an article call:” Video levels in final cut” by Graeme Nattress it will be very helpful for you.

Yes they have too high data rate for being a stero pair. And the “1Hz” file obviouly must have something wrong with such a sample rate.

The Centuryoptic is the only think that can really improve the quality of the picture in your 150-PD because you use the full CCD. But think that to film with the Century adapter you need time. I mean, you have to focus the camera and them focus the adaptor. If your work is “shoot and run” is not much practical. Also the image that you get in the VF and in the LCD screen will be defformed (4×3) so you will need a mean to monitor properly what you are shooting.
