    [Juliana Costa] ” 1920 x 1080″
That’s the picture size. Plain standard HDTV, 1920×1080 Squared pixels.
    1920/1080 = 16/9 = 1.7777

[Juliana Costa] “Current size: 1276 x 718 pixels”
That’s the size which QTPlayer is displaying the movie, and will change if you make the window bigger of smaller.:
    1276/718 = 16/9 = 1.7777

The picture size still being 1920×1080.

[Juliana Costa] “Funnily enough the original footage doesn’t seem to be anamorphic… I thought it would look “distorted” but instead it look fine when watched on QT preview. Could that be?”
Depending on the file, QT may be displaying properly (16×9) the picture.
Capture the screen and measure the picture width and high.
Width divided by high must be equal to 16/9 = 1.7777..

[Roland Denning] “On the second method – if the orginal file is speeded up 4% then the 25fps is played out at 24, won’t the final timings remain the same?”
Yes, but Audio will speed up as well.

If the new file has the same name and TC, yes.

    Which is your sequence codec?
If is something like H264, change it by Prores.
Export a self contained movie and then convert it to whatever you want.

November 20, 2013 at 6:45 am in reply to: H264 to PR to DVD? Or MPEG to MPEG is Good?

If there is not reediting or effects/graphics, to apply, there is not need to transcode to Prores.
Convert the H264 directly to MPEG2.

  • For color grading, Apple Color is better suited than AE.
If your project was longer I would suggest Color; but being that short, if you feel comfortable with AE, go with it.

November 19, 2013 at 11:32 am in reply to: Canon 5D Mark III Log and Transfer Problem

Canon 5D files are QT so -although not supported by FC- they can be directly imported without using L&T.
However, for proper management (preserving original TC and allowing reconnecting) you need ti install a Canon Plugin.
I think you have all the info in Shanes’s tutorial for tapelesss formats:

November 6, 2013 at 6:36 pm in reply to: Coverting Audio Files to .cda?

For what I read (Google) the .cda files are generated when making a CD on a PC (Windows), and, as John wrote, they have no really audio information inside. They point to the audio track, so they have no meaning out of the file/folder structure of the CD.
If you want to make a CD, convert the audio files to AIFF 44.1 KHZ and use Toast.

  • Is the BPAV folder inside another folder?
If not, open a new folder, name it and put the BPAV folder inside.
In XDCAM Transfer you have to add the new folder.
You have to do the same to each BPAV folder.
