Hi Heather,

BCC does not really have a filter that will remove the timecode burn from the video clip that you are working with. There is a filter in the package called BCC PixelFixer but that was designed for repairing much smaller groups of pixels than you are dealing with. There is also a filter called BCc Wire Remover which might help but it was really designed for wire / rig removal and not really for removing timecode burn. Having said that, the Wire Remover filter might be your best shot as solving this problem with a BCC filter.

Other than that, there are a couple of other options available:

• you can obscure the timecode with BCC Mosaic or BCC Pyramid Blur
• you can resize the video to effectively crop out the portion with the timecode

Glad I helped to clear up the source of confusion there with Livetype. And yes, there is an easy answer to the puzzle … you can try Boris RED, which includes the ability to generate exactly the moves that you are trying to generate with rendered clips, such as those generated by Livetype. Hi Sandra,

Actually the Title Crawl and Title 3D options in FCP are title generators and require you to use the text window for any input. They are not effects that can be applied to an image or rendered clip, which is what a Livetype title happens to be. Livetype titles are not a font or text object as such, they are rendered image clips.

I hope this helps explain why it wasn’t working as you were expecting.

Hi,

The EPS file that you are attempting to extrude is rather complex and might require a slightly different workflow than a more standard EPS logo Illustrator file. To successfully generate the result you are expecting, I’d suggest that after you extrude the EPS file, you then disable the Keep EPS Color switch in the filter control panel and use the original illustrator file as a texture layer to map the original colors back onto the extruded result.

The render performance of BFX is totally dependent on the frame size and complexity of the effect that you are attempting to generate. Please feel free to send me the BFX project file and I can test that within a different host environment to see if it’s related to (a) working within that particular host environment or (b) the hardware of the system that you are using or (c) the setting itself. Also, have you tried to render to DVD with the Boris effects disabled to understand how much the effects are adding to the render time? Hi Rob,

The Mosaic filter can only generate square tile shapes. To achieve the look that you want, try using the BCC 2D Particles filter. You can use the custom shape option to generate a look with any shape that you want. If you need assistance with setting up the effect, please feel free to ask and I’ll help you out.

I can help you with that.

• create the title with the text tool
• duplicate the video track over which you want to place the text and place this on top
• twirl down the duplicated text to reveal the mask track
• drag the title onto the mask track
• position the title as desired
• click on the main track level of the duplicated video track
• click on the shadow tab
• enable the drop shadow and customize as desired

We approved BCC AVX on a similar set up as the one that you describe and I don’t recall any issues with the Optical Stabilizer or the Extruded Text filters.

Have you considered trying the latest version of BCC AVX (which you can download from https://www.borisfx.com) to see if this eliminates the problems that you are seeing with your system?
