  • Glad that helped. The Extreme Overshoot tutorial is actually on the RED page – it’s relevant because Graffiti is in fact the titling engine in RED. Here’s a link:

    Hi,

Well seeing as we are talking about a live development project, I can’t really offer you much in the way of detail as that would let the cat out of the bag, right? 🙂 We need to wait until we are closer to the release stages of this project before we divulge details about such sensitive information as new feature development. All I can safely say at this stage is that RED users, new and old, will not be disappointed with the new version.

Sorry that I have to be so evasive in my response and I hope you understand the reasons why.

    Cheers,

    Peter.

  • Hi,

You can achieve that effect in Graffiti via the Type-On text feature. There are a free tutorials available that show you how to do this here:

    https://borisfx.com/tutorials/#null

One of the tutorials that would be most useful to you is titled “Extreme Overshoot”. This provides a very good overview of the capabilities of Graffiti’s Type-On text tool.

If you want to skip all of that, just follow these steps:

    • create some text using the Graffiti text generator
    • twirl down the text track and click to select the Face track in the timeline
    • in the Controls Window, select the Type On tab
    • animate the Text Type On parameter from 0 to100 for the duration that you want the title animation to have

    Cheers,

    Peter.

    Hi,

    I’m glad that helped.

Thanks for your kind comments regarding the product – we’re quite pleased with the way it turned out and based on the feedback that we receive, our customer base shares this sentiment.

So with regard to the media files not opening, I would like to suggest that you might download the files again as it sounds like something may have become corrupt in the download. I can’t understand any other reason for the project to stall out like that.

Please give that a shot if you can and let me know how you make out.

    Cheers,

    Peter.

    Okay, well for CS3 it’s:

    HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/CS3/MediaCore/Final Effects Complete 5.0/

    Cheers,

    Peter.

  • Hi,

    Try this:

    • go to the frame where you want to hold the animation
    • select the track labelled Text in the timeline
    • in the Controls Window, click on the Type On tab to select it
    • click on the square next to the Text Type On parameter to add a keyframe and select Hold from the list of available keyframe types

You can now set a new duration for the effect without affecting the animation.

Please let me know if this helps.

    Cheers,

    Peter.

    Sorry about that Peter.

Assuming that you used the FEC 5 product installer and installed into CS4, the files that you need to copy should be here:

    HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/CS4/MediaCore/Final Effects Complete 5.0/

Please let me know if this helps.

    Cheers,

    Peter.

August 30, 2010 at 1:11 pm in reply to: Animated Library Text Effects?

    Hi,

While I’m glad to hear that you were able to figure out the animated text effects, I’m disappointed to hear that you are not coming away from this with a satisfactory user experience. One of the things that I think we do quite well is to ease the generation of special effects, especially when it comes to animated type-on / type-of style title animation, which I think is what you were trying to achieve. Perhaps we can approach this from a different angle to see if there is a way for you to generate the looks that you have in mind while minimizing the struggle with the user interface.

We have several free tutorials regarding the generation of static and animated titles in Boris RED and Graffiti (a subset of RED) which you may read here:

    https://www.borisfx.com/tutorials/#null

I’d like to suggest that you take a few minutes and watch some of the tutorials that we have made available to see if there may be some steps that are missing from your current workflow that may make your time in Boris RED a better user experience. We are also open to any suggestion that you may have in regard to how we might make our products easier to use. Please feel free to email me privately with your suggestions at this address: peterm@borisfx.com

    I hope this helps!

    Cheers,

    Peter.

    Hi Peter,

After you install into AE, copy the FEC filters that end with “X.Bundle” into this folder:

    HD/Library/Application Support/BorisFX/BorisPlugins

The filters should then operate as expected in RED – if they don’t please let me know and I’ll sort that out for you.

    Cheers,

    Peter.
