Make sure you enable the front and back blur on the depth tab of the camera. Works without problems here. For ultimate control about your Z-buffer, you may want to consider this plugin:

[doka15] “So by usign MultiPass it would have taken care of everything and I wouldn;t have to render out a second time this mornign then???”

Yupp, looks like you have to go thru it all. Unfortunately C4D does not store any temp images on its own.

Check the picture viewer menu. Maybe you have incidentally turned on the Alpha channel view (which in your case woould be empty and show black) or you are using the multipass previw and also have an empty channel show up.

Animate the ring as you need and put it in the cloner. Apply a step effector. Turn off the Scale parameter and instead on the “Other” rolldown activate Time Offset. I’ve put together a quick example using the torus object, but you can of course also use a SweepNurps if you need different shapes. Download it here:

Add a Fill effect to your layer, animate the opacity and use Shatter to fragment your layer (animate the forcefields).

[Aharon Rabinowitz] “There’s no reason a Sony product should respect Adobe markers, but not another adobe product.”

Actually this is the result of a general messiness in how markers are used by different programs. Unfortunately there is no standardization in how those markers are to be treated, so probably they never implemented it in AE as they would have to cover quite a few possibilities. If you e.g. open Audition files in Soundforge or ProTools, their markers will always be interpreted as markers even if you defined a region in Audition or a play area in ProTools. The other way around Audition will completely screw markers added in Soundforge. There seems no way to avoid these problems except for keeping ones fingers crossed that Adobe may get around to implementing it.

Using the Pathfinder, the Join tool… There’s a few ways depending on the situation.

Well, you are touching a very sensitive topic here… I won’t get into details, but you are not getting MentalRay with Advanced Render. I suggest you look at other C4D related forums such as C4DCafe or CGTalk and make up your own mind about the heated debates going on there, including the only alternative renderer for C4D at the moment, which is finalRender. Also VRay bridge is being developed, but it’s nowhere near completion, it seems.

Not really. Either split your audio clips into smaller chunks and reveal onl the parts you are working on or zoom in as Steve said. AE does not have optimized drawing routines for this nor does it have cache files for the peak display as many of the apps you mentioned do.
