Is there a way to create a sinlge mask from a compound path from illustrator? I have tried a few things and after effects always creates individual masks for my paths, is there a way to get it in all one path?

No. Unless you properly merge your paths in illustrator, AE will always use multiple masks. If that#s not possible, then you just have to live with it. In this case the math involved beats the usability, unfortunatley.

Using the Pathfinder, the Join tool… There’s a few ways depending on the situation.
