If LaCie was OK why would you change?
I’ve read some negative responses from people about LaCie here,
but I’ve never used anything else but Lacie, and never had a problem.
I believe many of the problems were user inflicted.Mick

Happened to me last year, when cameraman used Panasonic tape with Sony PD 150
that normally uses Sony tapes.
Very frequent dropped frames, especially damaged audio.
Capturing erraticaly, 10 sec, 30 sec, 1:30 clips if I got lucky.
Was pretty lucky to save that project (event video) without major trouble.Sony PD 150 needed complete cleaning of tape transmissiom mechanism.
Sony uses special lubricant which other cameras / tapes see as a dirt.Do not mix Sony tapes with other tapes.
Another cameraman that uses Panasonic tapes on his Sony PD 170 didn’t have any problems.
I used that tape in my Canon and captured from it – no problems.Mick

Or, he’s using iDVD (hopefully version 6)?

June 9, 2007 at 8:52 am in reply to: Anamorphic output for idvd – retaining 16:9 formatI had to do it a couple of months ago and found that iDVD doesn’t recognise
a flag for anamorphic.
Luckily there is a little utility where you drop your exported QT and voila –
it stays 16:9. It’s called Anamorphisizer.
It works and it’s very simple, just follow onscreen instructions.
You can downloaded it for free here:https://homepage.mac.com/sith33/FileSharing34.html

May 26, 2007 at 12:25 am in reply to: ATI Radeon X1900 XT Graphics work in dual G5 2.7 for color? And Dual 2.3 G5 also with PCIe.
Actually it is whole G5 lineup – last one before Intel, late 2005.
All of them got PCIe.
System profiler says just PCI, but in your manual says clearly PCI Express,
as it was announced in various articles when they were released.Mick

<[Borjis] "how long does it take to clone a drive?" [David] It takes about an hour, or an hour twenty... >
But every next time you want to clone it with Super Duper it takes only 10 minutes,
as it only updates the back up hard drive – copies only what has changed from last time.I believe that CCC does the same, but still SuperDuper hass slightly better interface and

May 12, 2007 at 5:30 am in reply to: Yeah, Canon’s don’t work with FCP but what about Sony?“Canon cameras don’t work with FCP if you have external FW drives all plugged into the same FW bus. You need to un-plug your externals and capture to a internal drive.>
The above is true to the extent. I’ve got a G5 2.3 MHz with FC Studio and an iMac G4 with
a FCExpres, using Lacie HDs as well, and love Canon cameras.
I’ve noticed that my My Canon doesn’t like HDs to be daisy chained, and that my
FC Pro doesn’t like my Canon to be connected to something else (a VCR for analog /digital convesrion).
I just organised my set up differently, don’t daisy chain my HDs as I don’t have to.The beauty of a Mac and Final Cut is that there is always a back up plan, the other way to do the same thing.
But still if I was you, I’d go with bare bones Mac Pro (or MacBook Pro) and if you need
to save money – save it on FC – buy FC Express. For one day a week, you wouldn’t even
have a time to unlock the power of FC Studio.Good luck, it’s an exciting time in front of you. Enjoy it!

“Do you think i should scale the 4/3 footage to 16/9(did it but looks terrible) and work further in 16/9 project?”
T,
Yes, I’d suggest to stay in 16:9 form many reasons, looks better and you’ve
got less clips in 4:3 anyway. Here is a great solution for you, a tutorial by Jude Cotter (Faking it: Making 4:3
footage work in 16:9 projects)https://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/faking_it.html
