I just captured my first footage to disk from my Canon XH A1 using the Firewire cable. It imported perfectly using the Easy Setup (HD 1080I/24P) and compressed through Compressor with no problems whatseover.

    Sweet.

I am using a MacPro Oc with 4 GB.

    [mtnmedia] “compressed through Compressor”

    Compressed to … what format?
    Tried ProRes as well?

It’s good to know, as I’m looking at XH A1 as well.

    Thanks

    Mick,
I have compressed it through Compressor to a DVD/mpeg and HD DVD mpeg as well as straight out of FCP as a Quicktime.

    Great results every time.

[Miodrag Ristic] “Tried ProRes as well?”

I just did… looks fantastic, but there’s something off with the render proportions, and the file size is huge. I need to learn more about setting up the options with that codec. But again, it looks great.

    Eric,
All 8 CPU’s were engaged at about 50% throughout the compression. The clip was about two minutes, and took about between two to five minutes, depending on the number of passes in the encoding.

Please help. I just bought a Canon A1 and FCS2. I’m having capturing problems. I want to shoot in HDV 24F, but when I tried a capture test, it didn’t work. What audio and video settings do I need to use for both the camera and Final Cut? Thank you for your help.
