    Hi,

I need to get a new external drive to capture video onto. The Lacie drive I have has been OK. The Seagate one was horrible. I am looking into the Maxtor HD… There’s one with 500 GB that Maxtor has created- Does anybody have an experience with those? Any suggestions or feedback would be helpful.

    Thanks!

I’ve been working with a Maxtor One Touch that belongs to a client and its been great. Its very quiet and has a very neat ruberized exterior that dampens vibrations and makes it scratchproof as well.

If LaCie was OK why would you change?

I’ve read some negative responses from people about LaCie here,
but I’ve never used anything else but Lacie, and never had a problem.
I believe many of the problems were user inflicted.

I have two 1.5 TB & a 500 GB Maxtor one touch hard drive … one of my 1.5 TB has been problematic. It crashes my MacPro a lot. The other two work good though. Don’t buy a Lacie … they always crap out, especially the big disks.
