My project file will not open, what can I do?

Answer:
Go into your Start menu and select Search or Find and Files and Folders. Then search for *.bak in this window. Look for a project file labeled with the same name with .bak after it and try to open it. If the project opens, go into the File menu and select Save As. Then save the project under a new name in a different location and continue on with that project.

If the program that you are using supports VST plug-ins, you may be able to narrow it down to a VST problem. To do so, try renaming C:\Program Files\Vstplugins to “Vstpluginsx” for example, and trying to start the program again. If it launches fine, it is a problem with one of your VST effects/instruments. At that point you may have to uninstall and reinstall your VST plug-ins or update the plug-ins from the manufacturer’s website. You may also want to try using VST-Scanner to search for a broken VST plug-in.

Uninstall the program, using the Add/Remove Programs utility in the control panel. Then go into the Program Files folder in the C drive and into the Sony and Sony Set-up folders there and delete the folders labeled with that program’s name. After doing so, re-install the update only if there is one available for your program, it will be located here. If there is not an update available there, then just install the program with the CD or install file that you originally installed the application with.

Rename the folder that the media is in for this project and then try opening the project file. Once you have the “missing media” dialog open, do not allow the program to automatically find any of the media clips from that project. Select to find the clips manually. This should allow you to locate the specific clip that causes the problem.

If the program has Media Manager included, you may want to try disabling Media Manager. To do so, first save your project and go into the Options menu and select Preferences. Then towards the bottom of the General tab, uncheck the box next to “Enable Media Manager” and press Apply and OK. Then close the program and re-open it.

Hmmm… I don’t have the option to import audio at project tempo in Options>Prefs>Audio.

Are you running at least 5.0B (latest was 5.0D)?
The reason I ask is that this was a big fix.
From the Readme:
An Import audio at project tempo check box has been added to the Audio tab of the Preferences dialog. When this check box is selected, ACID loops are automatically stretched to match the project tempo (specified on the Ruler tab of the Project Properties dialog) when you add them to the timeline or preview from the Explorer window. When the check box is cleared, tempo information is ignored.

I’ll tell you how I got it to work for me.
Step one is to grab the last frame of the video clip as a still (make sure the preview window is set to Best/Full).
Set the desired video clip as “first play”.
Make the still frame the background of the “Menu 1” page.
Set the end action destination of the first clip to “Menu 1”.
Now add your play all & scene selection options.

OK. I did a search for this problem and came up with a few suggestions. Hopefully one of them will help. BTW, which version and build of Vegas are you using?

Options – Prefs – Audio – Import audo at project tempo.
Is this selected?

Change the Vegas project tempo to match the ACID file using
File > Properties > Ruler and change the project tempo.

Modify the properties of the audio event to ignore ACID properties (fixed with 5.0b update).

Is it a case of Acid being set to 44.1 KHz while Vegas is at 48 KHz?

John, as I recall (I installed the Morgan codec as well but it’s been a while), I simply installed it and it worked. A reboot may have been necessary but I’m not 100% certain about that.
An icon installs itself in the taskbar and has a number of settings but I just accepted the default without any issues.

If you were referring to date/time from the DV timecode, then Edward gave you the right answer.
I assumed you were referring to true SMPTE timecode which can be preset to function as “time of day” timecode which Vegas would read.
