What is the exact version number of AE you’re using?

The whole timeline has the green line, yes?

Do you have any third-party panels docked? Try changing to one of the default workspaces.

You could design animations in AE and then apply them as textures in Cinema 4D. Or you can use plugins like Paint and Stick or RE:Map UV to apply that stuff in AE later.

Another way to do this would be with particle effects. Particular (from Red Giant), for example, lets you emit particles and then emit particles from those particles to create lines exactly like this. It takes longer to set up than Fractal Noise, but it gives you more control over movement if you want more than just a straight line and it lets you have a sharper end to the lines and more uniform width. Some of the particle effects built into AE could also produce somewhat similar looks, but not as easily as Particular.

Another way would be using a repeater on shape layers with some wiggle transforms.

Why not just replace the instances of the old effect with the one you have installed?

The break in the bottom-left of that image…is that on purpose? If you want a gear to rotate around this, it’ll be a bit tricky to do, but it’s certainly possible. You can make your gear move around the shape with roving keyframes so the movement is even and then you can set rotation value with keyframes and dial it in to match the movement with just two keyframes (or a time expression). This is assuming that you have your teeth evenly spaced…which you don’t currently, but that’s fixable.

  • If you have Trapcode plugins from Red Giant, Lux does exactly this.

If you don’t, Nebula from Video Copilot also does this (and a whole bunch more), but it’s not out yet and no idea when it will be.

So, in the meantime, Filip’s suggestion is the way to go. Smiley

This is why I keep a machine with old versions installed on it – just in case I need to walk a project back for some reason or other.

Although, I don’t really know why I would need to do that anymore…

When you say you increase the size of your text (and nothing happens), what do you mean? What parameter are you scaling? Are you changing the font size, the scale of the text layer, or are you scaling the object inside Element 3d somewhere?

Do Premiere Pro and AME see them as AVI too? I would assume so, but want to double check.

What is the source of these files?

CC Kaleida (or however it’s spelled) would be the first effect I would play with.
