    Dear all,

i am currently looking for something like a lightstreak/animated line kind of style workflow, with adjustable length, speedand color… but all i am starting with won’t get to where i want this. What i am trying to recreate is something like in the links i added. All suggestions are welcome, with or without the use of plugins.

Thanks so much for your help!

Just found out that i am not allowed to post links, so i am posting screenshots of the clips, but

i think it’s selfexplaining what i am looking for.

One really simple way is to use a solid (any color) with a fractal noise effect. Under transform, change the scale width to something like 2500, and the scale height to something like 8.

Use a levels effect to play with contrast, then add a tint and glow. I made the image below using this recipe, with the solid rotated a bit in 3D space. It can be animated in various ways within the fractal noise effect.

By “under transform”, I mean within the fractal noise effect, not the layer properties.

Another way to do this would be with particle effects. Particular (from Red Giant), for example, lets you emit particles and then emit particles from those particles to create lines exactly like this. It takes longer to set up than Fractal Noise, but it gives you more control over movement if you want more than just a straight line and it lets you have a sharper end to the lines and more uniform width. Some of the particle effects built into AE could also produce somewhat similar looks, but not as easily as Particular.

Another way would be using a repeater on shape layers with some wiggle transforms.
