When you say “tried updating the dongle” did you succeed in doing so? When you get info on the dongle, what version is it displaying?

If the requirement is uncompressed, then the files will be large. So your second request is a lossless type compression codec wrapped in QuickTime. You can have the customers download the codec or include it as part of the QT movie itself. But since you are creating a self contained QT movie, then looking for an appropriate codec is really up to you – long GOP formats will give you high quality viewing for lower file size. What is the eventual use of these movies at the back end? Viewing or repurposing?

Exactly – the source format is defined, but not the project type. Since this is an NTSC format, it will maintain the interlace structure of 2:3 pulldown if edited in a 30i NTSC project. Progressive frames are extracted in an NTSC 23.976p project for both ADVANCED and NORMAL pulldown.

Speaking from the feature film side, it’s ability to manage media and metadata for all frame rates, custom metadata, all frame rate metadata, change list management, real time collaboration on shared storage, DNxHD 36 for high quality low data rate offline, export to Pro Tools, ScriptSync, etc., etc., etc. make it essential to those types of productions.

With the latest version of MC, you can mix 720p/23.976, NTSC 23.976, and 1080p/23.976.
