    heyo…

Common request – client needs uncompressed quicktimes of HD material. A same as source export out of avid yields great results but most clients do not have the proper components for quicktimes using the avid 1:1 or dv100 codec.

So I tend to “re-export” out of quicktime pro with a lossless codec like animation or just “uncompressed” because I know most everyone can view it. But it does dramatically increase the file size and forces me to bother with an extra, time-consuming step…SOOO, any recommendations for exporting uncompressed HD-res quicktimes for a broad, non-avid audience? preferred lossless codecs? bundling necessary QT components perhaps?

    THANKS!

If the requirement is uncompressed, then the files will be large. So your second request is a lossless type compression codec wrapped in QuickTime. You can have the customers download the codec or include it as part of the QT movie itself. But since you are creating a self contained QT movie, then looking for an appropriate codec is really up to you – long GOP formats will give you high quality viewing for lower file size. What is the eventual use of these movies at the back end? Viewing or repurposing?
