It uses Invigorator but the same principles should apply

November 1, 2007 at 2:29 pm in reply to: How can I use Trapcode Particular to make rubbish fall?1. They all just fall off the screen, is there anyway of making it so they stop at the bottom of the screen and gradually pile up on each other?
Create a solid in AE, make it a 3D layer, then set it as a floor layer in particular (I think you have to change the physics mode from Air to Bounce). Then you can set how it reacts to the floor layer
2. Im using the mesh tool to make the object move around and rotate, but when they toys fall they are all doing exactly the same mesh movements and rotations….is there like a way of offsetting them so that they are moving at different times….so it doesnt look so syncronized?
I don’t have it right in front of me, but someone else who does should. Also check trapcode and Andrew Kramer’s Tutorial on Medical Zoom at Videocopilot.net. He animates a “cell” rendered in 3DS and using particular to separate them out (I think its the second part of the tutorial)
3. Can you use motion blur with particular?
Yes, you can. I think you can force it or set it to use the layer’s option. You can also have Depth of Field.

You could duplicate the layer and apply Shine to the bottom layer, then adjust the colors as needed.

You need to duplicate your original layer of the guy plucking and then create a mask of the finger plucking the guy and animate it accordingly.

You could always try Particular and set a layer, with the person you want to dissolve, as an emitter and change the direction of the particles. Then animate the mask and it should make the person dissolve. Never tried it, but now I kinda want to haha.

I know that a Take 5 segment on Digital Juice covered Green Screen Jaggies by telling us to reduce the sharpness when filming. I know that doesn’t help now, but in the future it might come in handy.
Make sure you try the pre-blur option. And use Keylight instead of AE’s built in keyer, its not that great.
