How do I use the animation presets in AE? I want to make this round logo(JPEG) spin and I stumbled upon “apply animation preset” under “animation”. It looks like the preset “spin rapidly” may be what I need-although I can’t find a way to preview it. I followed the “Help” menu directions properly-I think!
I selected my layer, went to “animation-apply animation preset-“curves and spins”-and double clicked the “spin rapidly” preset.

That was it. I did’nt notice any change to the logo or see anything added to the timeline. I scrubbed through it and don’t see any movement. I even exported it as an avi and it’s still just a stupid static jpeg.

    What am I doing wrong?

I’msuper new to AE animation-this is the first time I’ve ried to use the animation features in 6.5.

I have AE CSE at home so if I can’t get it to work here at work on 6.5 I’ll try it at home if that would be easier.

Can someone please walk me through this? I’m sure it’s very simple.
Just tell me which version to use (6.5 or CS3) and guide me through like a four year old….:)

Those presets are only available for text objects.

ooooh, ok. Duh. Well, in that case, can anyone tell me how to make the logo spin like a coin?

You will need to turn the layer into a 3D layer. Click on the box for the layer that is in the column with a 3D looking box. That will make your layer 3D.

Now just set keyframes for the type of rotation you want. If I understand you right, you will want to rotate around the y axis. Set a start keyframe, then move down the timeline a few seconds and rotate the object. It might be easiest if you just play with the settings to see how it works. The second keyframe with drop in automatically. There will be a point where the flat object is invisible since the object will not have any real depth.

… and if you want the animation to loop seamlessly,

    1. make the first keyframe 0 degress, and the next keyframe 1x+0 degrees.
    2. set your work area to cover from the first keyframe to the frame just before the second keyframe.
    3. Render the movie and import it.
    4. Re-interpret the movie, setting it to loop in the interpretation dialog box.

The movie will play until the frame just before the last key, then the movie will play again. Since the first and last keys look identical, the movie will loop seamlessly.

Can someone help me?: When I’m working in After Effects and I need work with Text animation (from Presets in Bridge) and I took the animation text (any text) for to open in A. Effects this comes always with the text “ADOBE AFTER EFFECTS”
How can I erase this text? and work with my own text?
    Thanks in advance. Daniel
